On their website, the company has shared that they are aware this news might be difficult for several people, especially The Last of Us Factions community who have been eagerly anticipating their multiplayer plans. As a studio, they're also devastated as they were excited to deliver it to players. They've decided to explain how and why this decision was reached with everyone.
Naughty Dog shared that the studio's focus on developing The Last of Us Online, a multiplayer project with an extensive scale, was detracting from its primary priority of creating single-player games. The line-up encompassed highly successful titles such as The Last of Us and its sequel, The Last of Us Part II.
