Here's the fix for the broken fingerprint scanner in Android 14's QPR2 Beta 2

Google unveiled their stable December 2023 Pixel Feature Drop earlier this week, followed by the release of Android 14 QPR2's second beta. While this latest edition introduces several new features, its main focus is on addressing bugs and other concerns. A noteworthy fix involves biometric unlocking problems experienced with Pixels in previous versions; now resolved to prevent crashes during unlock attempts.

Beware of upgrading to Android's latest version (QPR2) in hopes of resolving biometric issues on your phone, especially if you're a Pixel 7 user. Reports suggest that the upgrade may actually cause more harm than good by potentially rendering your in-display scanner useless instead.

Several Pixel 7 Pro device Reddit users have expressed concern over the fingerprint sensor error on Android 14 AP11.231117.006 beta build that renders it inoperable, causing people to rely on alternate methods like pattern/PIN or face unlock features for phone access. The problem has not affected other Pixel models currently using this beta version of the operating system so far as reported by users from different segments of social media platform-Reddit.

Thankfully, Google has acknowledged the matter that was raised by 9to5Google and is taking swift action to resolve it. As soon as the issue is resolved internally within their organization, Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2.1 can be expected to come out before the end of holiday season, equipped with a remedy for this glitch.

Recalibrating the fingerprint sensor could be a helpful fix for the issue until Google addresses it. Some Pixel 7 owners have reported that recalibrating their in-display scanner resolved any problems with biometric unlocking. While awaiting an update, this process can provide temporary relief as per Google's suggestion. If you have computer access, iFixit has created a guide to assist you in calibrating your Pixel's fingerprint sensor; however, if unsuccessful on first attempt retry after restarting phone should be attempted twice following calibration procedure which will enable proper operation of your sensor.

As we anticipate the launch of Android 14 QPR2 (March 2024 Pixel feature drop), there is still a period of over two months remaining. It's reasonable to expect bugs may emerge in beta versions within this timeframe, and they shouldn't cause undue concern.

If you find yourself becoming irritated by beta versions that disturb vital features on your phone, it may be worthwhile to contemplate returning to the stable channel. However, there is one caveat - you can only switch and retain all of your data without any loss when the forthcoming Feature Drop arrives. Otherwise, attempting to move back at present would erase all of your Google accounts and information from your device, necessitating setting things up again from scratch.

The quick wallpaper picker in Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 is not functioning properly, and Google must address this problem in the next beta version. Nevertheless, users can anticipate a variety of thrilling features like notification cooldowns and per-app screen recording that could enhance Wi-Fi sharing by March 2024 through Pixel Feature Drop's forthcoming updates. Furthermore, an updated volume slider as well as numerous other concealed elements may be included; however, not all are assured to feature on stable build releases.
